Updated FAQ (Info/Complaint Department on first...
There’s info relevant to recent asks.
Anonymous asked: What size do you consider to be a "chubby cosplayer"
steam-calliope asked: To the person cosplaying as Sailor Moon-- I'll be there with you in a few months! I am trying to eat healthier but so far I've actually ~gained~ weight rather than losing it *_* One thing I would recommend to any chubby cosplayer-- if your character shows legs, tights are your BEST friend, especially shimmery ones! Nothing too glimmery, but they REALLY make a difference. Not only can...
aperturetestsubject asked: Okay so I saw your post about how that even though you yourself are chubby, you cant help but feel awesome when your cosplaying etc. I love what you said. Seriously I'm like the same size though only 5'3. Some girls they feel they cant cosplay just because there big and I'm happy I'm not the only one trying to teach chubby girls (and guys!) a proper way to work with there body...
Sailormoon IS possible!
I just wanted to show you guys that sailor scouts ARE doable! look at these beautiful cosplays! I know Im planning on cosplaying Sailormoon and Dark lady myself one day :) and these 2 pictures really inspire me. Neptune is from Ohayo con back in 2008 and im not sure about serenity but… I love them!
Anonymous asked: I want to do the big no-no, and cosplay as a sailor moon character. I'm obese, according to my BMI, 5'4" and 200 pounds with a DD chest.
I would die to cosplay as chibimoon or cosmos....
how could I adapt a cosplay to me? I know about wearing body shapers to, um shape my lumps. What else can I do to make this cosplay great?
Thanks so much for...

To all of the anons out there and anyone who is not so anon- I just wanted you all to know that I am very happy to have stumbled upon this site, because there are very few positive places to turn to when it comes to weight and cosplay.
I’m an avid cosplayer, I have been doing so since 1999. I just turned 30, am 5’11” and am currently a size 22-24. I know that there are a lot of...
Anonymous asked: For the PoC-Anon: If you ever want to do a cosplay without the pressure of not having to be as 'pretty' as the character- try Amanda Waller! She's one of my FAVOURITE characters ever, a total BAMF who runs a super-villain team that works for the government, and just...so hardcore. If I wasn't white, I'd cosplay the shit out of her. (You might see a version of her in the GL...
nobnon asked: Thank you. Thank you so much for making this blog. There are so, SO many of us in the world that need this kind of positive reinforcement. Society has told us that we are fat/ugly and it's time we take a stand and say NO. No, we are not fat OR ugly. We are beautiful, AMAZING people who need to band together and show the world that we will not be tricked by their lies anymore. Will it take...
Anonymous asked: First off, I'd just like to say that I absolutely love your blog. <3
Secondly, I've been planning a cosplay for a while, but I'm not sure if I will be rediculed for doing it.
The character is Imp-form Midna from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess.
I had at first thought since she is curvy, it would be a good cosplay, considering I have an...

happydorkgirl asked: For the 24-year-old 5'8 PoC with big shoulders -
I just wanted to let you know that you weren't alone. I'm 29, 5'10, about your weight, and have big ol' shoulders and feet. It's hard for us tall ladies. It's almost as if our height (and subsequently larger/longer appendages) robs us of our femininity. That's a quick way to feel ugly.

Anonymous asked: This blog is challenging me and i don't know how to feel about it.
I've never cosplayed a day in my life, although I would love to. But I'm not small or young .I'm 24, 5'8 somewhere around 220-230. And being a PoC doesn't help either.
I see this blog and I'm happy happy that it even exists. I want to so quickly be a part of the...

Crossplay....? ftw?
Sooo, I am a chubby gal, and I crossplay more often than cosplay girls! Do you think I could possibly cosplay female charaters…? Males seem to be easier to cosplay if you’re overweight :/ I dont want to be murdered at a convention for being over a size 6 and cosplaying a girl…
Goooooo fooooor iiiiiit. You’re really cute, I think you could pull off a lot of different...
mintbubble asked: I know this isn't really a question, but your blog makes me smile :) I've been overweight for almost all of my life, and I'm very self-conscious about it.. Seeing these girls around my weight with great cosplays makes me really happy :D Is it okay If I post a picture of my cosplay on here sometime?

ricky-c-indahouse-deactivated20 asked: I just wanna say that a lot of these cosplayers aren't even chubby. I'm chubby and most of these girls are thinner than me.
But I love this blog like a nerd loves LoZ tattoos <3

kanayadarling asked: So, I'm most likely going to try to pull off this cosplay for this year's AX. http://www.cosplaymagic.com/taofsykofuco.html
It's Sheena Fujibayashi from Tales of Symphonia.
Well... I have sort of sharper features, so I know my face wont be perfectly accurate, but I definitely have the chest for it. I'm not super skinny, but I wouldn't say I'm super...

Hey what's up.
So a friend linked this site to me about a week ago, finally got around to following it. Just wanna say that it’s really inspired me to actually do a cosplay. :)
You might also wanna check out http://operationbeautiful.com/
So this is actually me, taken back in August 2008. I was Suiseiseki from Rozen Maiden. (Excuse the horrible expression, I was blinded by sunlight.) I was 17 here and I’m still roughly the same size. While I’m not really fat, I’m also not thin. Sort of a bit above the in-between. At that point, I was roughly a 14-16. Since then I’ve lost roughly 20lbs and now I’m...
mookip asked: I think the people hating on this is funny. You're beautiful and doing such an amazing job here. I don't care if you photoshopped your pictures or posted the original. Models photoshop their pictures, that doesn't mean they are ashamed of themselves. I don't think anyone who was ashamed of how big or skinny they are could have such a positive blog.
braindamagedfox answered your question: Anon...
Holy SHIT.
So yeah, I am… words can NOT describe what JACKASS I feel like right now.
I posted the pic of me I shooped (yes badly, did it on photobucket with their shitty editing tools) for the benefit of my relatives who live far away. I do it not because I’m ashamed, but because I don’t feel like listening to their shit.
I’m replacing the shooped one and also posting...
Anonymous asked: I am so happy to see a positive cosplay Tumblr for once! I became intensely disheartened after browsing two "bad" cosplay Tumblrs and told myself I would never attempt to cosplay as I just KNOW I'd get thrown up on one of those. Let me just say, this group has single-handedly reversed that opinion. I've never cosplayed before due to... well, having no money and no free time,...

Inspiration
Ya’ll’s outpouring of love and support made me remember something.
When I was having a really hard time in elementary school, my mother found this cute poster. It was long, like a scroll, and fit right on this little outward part of the wall. She told me to read it every morning and every night before I slept.
Later on, I typed it up and had a friend print it out. I told her that...
Anonymous asked: I'm not chubby, but I completely agree with the previous ask! Confidence is the SEXIEST thing! I think a chubby girl with a ton of confidence is sexier than a thin girl with none(and vice-versa/for any situation c:). I can't help but be way more attracted to a confident girl than anyone else that walks in the room, despite any visual "flaws".

Anon asked: "Would you show us a picture of you?
…Anyone as wonderful as you are on the inside must be just as beautiful on the outside. I’m sure it isn’t as bad as you think…” *squeals a bit* oh anon <3
I’m afraid I take pictures so that you can’t see the damage, but here it is anyway.
I’m not greasy in the face, here, it’s skin irritation
And here’s the whole me.

Amazing?
Answer to this.
Alright, for reals guys, let me lay it down.
I suffer from a few really awful social and stress related disorders. I have anxiety attacks, and while I appear to be a hardass confident bitch on the outside, I am scared shitless of people. I do my best to smile at everyone and not look at the ground, and I’m always polite. I just don’t see how anyone can have an excuse...
dancing-pinky-flower asked: I'm supposed to be 135lbs to fit in with my skeletal structur and height and at my worst, I was 153 or so. I'm not big, I know, but I always worry. Constantly. Sorry-I'm complaining. Not what I meant.
What I mean is that all girls worry about what they look like. Even the most confident have little moments and it's the girls on this blog that make me feel absolutely...

As soon as I saw this on my dash it was an instant follow. Thank you so much for putting this together. I’m ok with my chub as it’s a medical condition but for years I hated myself. So I want all the girls out there to know it’s ok to cosplay. You can do whatever the hell you want and look gorgeous doing it. Also i’m 22 5’ 6” and well over 200 pounds. I...
spazzledazzlevstheworld asked: I'm going to give this a shot with a follow. While weight appropriate cosplays certainly look better (and are more accurate), some of these still work because it's not trying to squeeze into something too small. My question is: Is Fat-positive enabling the obesity epidemic, or do you also promote goals for weight loss, as well?
Anonymous asked: Would it be too much to ask if people can post tips for a chubbyish girl who wants to cosplay? c:

I'm not sure if you guys have heard of them, but both of these blogs have a lot in common! Maybe you two should affiliate, or however you would go about that.

Stocking cosplay!
I personally think she pulls off this Stocking cosplay well. The picture quality isn’t great and the hair could be a little better, but the outfit seems very form-fitting for her body and the cosplay overall looks as though it has had a lot of effort put into it. :3
(For those interested, the cosplayer is *HotaruTenshi on deviantArt. You can find this picture here: http://fav.me/d3h4sk3)

Somebody Make Us An Icon!
Pretty please? I’ll take a few submissions and rotate them every now and again.
I’ve gotten a number of asks wondering who the hell I am. I guess it’s hard to take advice from an internet creeper?
So have some stats.

First off, I want to say that I love this blog to no end.
I’ve been dealing with being over weight since I was young. Even moreso in middle school did I become concerned about it, so I tried compensating for it by being funny or something of the sort. I was comfortable at that point until the last year came and I cosplayed for the first time. When the con came up, only a few people took...

Anonymous asked: Suggestion! Every Sunday, make it "Suggestion Sunday"-post a character that chubbier people could pull off well and explain why! You're very good at that. :) Throughout the week people could submit their ideas. And to submitters-where are all the menfolk doin' it right, hmm?
Thank you for starting this. I'm very tiny, and I keep hearing my larger friends...

I didn't grow up in the US. I grew up overseas on a military base in Japan, and got into cosplay while I was over there, the problem was, I got alot of problems and insecurity from being overweight and curvy, especially by Japanese standards. first off, this blog is fantastic and reading it is already doing wonders for my self-confidence. thank you so, so much for making this.
secondly - i personally have not had any issues over my cosplays regarding my weight (except for one wayward comment on youtube wherein someone thought i was pregnant??), but seeing some of the things people say about heavier cosplayers is still a pretty huge...
